“Eclipse” by Kyle Royer: A Frame Handle Bowie Masterpiece

The Frame Handle Bowie, named ‘Eclipse,’ was born from the striking duality embodied in this knife. The Mosaic Damascus blade mirrors the celestial dance of light and shadow during a solar eclipse, where darkness and brilliance coexist in perfect harmony. The deep, polished African Blackwood handle serves as the shadow, grounding the piece with strength and elegance, while the luminous patterns in the steel echo the radiance of light breaking through. Holding this knife feels like capturing a rare and powerful moment in time—an eclipse you can hold in your hand.
This Bowie features an 11 1/4-inch-long Mosaic Damascus blade, paired with fittings made of hardened and tempered Damascus steel. Two hand-sculpted grooves are cut into the front spacer, and one into the pommel, adding subtle, refined details to the overall design. The handle scales are crafted from premium African Blackwood, hand-polished to 3,000 grit and lightly buffed for a rich, smooth finish.
Four domed Argentium Silver pins mechanically fasten the handle scales and frame pieces together. The Bowie is constructed in a take-down fashion, allowing it to be disassembled and serviced by me if it ever needs cleaning or adjustment in the future.
This knife has massive proportions and makes you feel powerful when holding it. The blade is 5/16 inches thick at the spine and 2 1/4 inches wide at its widest point, with an overall length of 16 1/2 inches.
Some standout features of this Bowie include the dark and bright Damascus pattern on the blade, the frame handle construction that offers the look of a full tang, and the overall profile of this knife.
